Pizza traces its origins back to ancient civilizations such as the Greeks, Egyptians, and Romans who enjoyed flatbreads topped with various ingredients. However, the modern pizza as we know it today emerged in Naples, Italy, during the 18th century. Initially a humble dish sold by street vendors, pizza gained popularity and evolved into a worldwide culinary phenomenon, with countless variations enjoyed across the globe.
INGREDIENTS
Dough (makes 2 pizzas)1
3 cups pizza flour (recommend Hayden’s Pizza Flour)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon instant yeast
1/4 cup olive oil
1 and 1/4 cup warm water
Pizza Sauce (any brand)
Semola

Mix all the pizza dough ingredients in a stand mixer. Once the dough comes together as a shaggy ball, knead it by hand for 5 minutes or adjust stand mixer to low speed for 5 minutes. Then shape the dough and cover for 1-2 hours.


We used a pizza oven, so prepare by adding wood and starting the fire.
Then we coated the surface with semola before rolling out the pizza dough. We spread the pizza sauce on the dough and added mozzarella, basil, meatballs to one and prosciutto on the other. This step is very flexible as the toppings and sauce can be substituted.
Then we transferred to pizza to a metal pizza peel and put it in a pizza oven for 30-60 seconds before turning and letting it cook for another 30-60 seconds.
